About Guidevio

How Guidevio researches product categories, builds each Top 10 shortlist, and keeps guides honest, current and independent.

What Guidevio is

Guidevio is an independent consumer recommendation publication. For each category we publish one ranked shortlist of ten products or services, written for someone who has already spent an evening on the fence and wants to decide. Every entry says who it suits, what it gives up, and where the detail came from.

How a guide is built

We start from what manufacturers are actually selling today, then work from their official product pages: published specifications, warranty and parts terms, and the options a buyer can really choose. Retailer listings are used for availability and for prices we can see. Where a figure is not published, we leave it out rather than estimate it. Guides are re-checked as line-ups and prices change, and each one shows the date it was last revised.

What we do not claim

Guidevio does not run a test lab. We have not bought, borrowed or damaged any of these products, so you will never see a “we tested” line, a review score, a star rating or a verdict that implies hands-on use. We do not invent testimonials, expert quotes, statistics, awards or survey figures, and we do not borrow another publication’s ranking and present it as our own.

How rankings are decided

A ranking is an editorial judgement about who a product suits, made from the published record: specification, range, service terms and how the product is positioned by its maker. Position reflects the breadth of people a product serves. A product cannot buy a place on a Guidevio list, and a higher commission does not move one up.

Prices, links and money

A price appears only where we saw it on an official or retailer page, and we name the page we saw it on. Prices move, so check the seller before you buy. Some product links now go to Amazon through a tracked affiliate link, and the disclosure at the top of that guide says so; the link is marked sponsored. Where we have no affiliate relationship with a seller, the link goes to that seller’s or manufacturer’s own page untracked. Our full affiliate disclosure page lists which links are tracked and which are not.

Corrections

Each guide lists the official pages it was compiled from, so any claim on the page can be checked independently. If you find a specification, price or link that no longer matches its source, tell us through the contact page and we will correct it and move the guide’s last-updated date.
